Hmm, I find them both lovable in different ways. Violet is sweet and demure. Hazel is bold and saucy. Which image better suits your vision of another daughter?

We loved Hazel when expecting Hayes, obviously it was out after he was born. Violet is one I would have considered with G and E, but it is too popular for our taste.

They are both nice.

For some reason (I can't quite put my finger on it) I am really loving Hazel. I think maybe it's the 'trend' of 'old lady' (for lack of better term) names become more popular. Like Pearl, Mabel, etc. So now Hazel sounds modern, fresh, fun and a little spunky to me. Violet is nice but sounds boring to my ear, not really exciting or interesting. Sweet, demure, eh.

Definitely Violet. It has a more sweet and feminine sound to it.
We are actually using a variation as DD#2's middle name - Viola - for my grandmother.
Hazel is more harsh sounding to my ear. It also makes me think of nuts and old people.

I prefer Hazel...it's got a funkier, artsier sound to me (and I've had a little bias against purple since I was in junior high and that's what all the "cool" girls wore.

Both are nice, but not really my style.

I love violets, which grow wild in my yard in several colors. A few months back I even took a picture of my kids sitting in the violets... but it doesn't appeal that much as a name. If I had to choose between the two, I think I'd go for Hazel, which seems more interesting to me--less common, like the sound better I guess.

Hazel here. Then again if Eloise had been born 10 days sooner she would have been Hazel not Eloise, so I am a bit biased.

I like Violet, it was on our name list for both Eloise and Sullivan, but I like Hazel more, it just sounds spunkier. I actually really like Lilac too, I prefer it to Violet not sure why though.

Thank you for the sig Mary

I adore Violet. It makes me think of sweet summer days, butterflies and fun times. No clue why!

Hazel makes me think of a crazy old lady.
