Which do you prefer?

I love Claire and don't want to budge. My SO loves Emma and doesn't want to budge. Which do you prefer and why? I'd also love to hear middle name possibilities if you have any suggestions! :smileyhappy: Not even pregnant yet, let alone with a girl, so this is just for fun for now!

I do really like Emma Claire as a full name - but it makes me sad to think of missing out on Claire as a first name!

What do you think of Claire Alice? (Alice in honor of my mom) or Emma Elizabeth? (Elizabeth is my middle name) Other girl names I like (possible middles) are Juliet, Eve, Jane, and Caroline.

Without considering popularity, I like them equally. Emma is just so incredibly common that I wouldn't use it. I know many baby Emmas. Claire Alice is very pretty. I love Alice as a first name actually as well as Juliet and Eve. Have you considered Emmeline or Emilia? I love Emmeline Eve or Emilia Jane. Good luck!

Tough one! We have a daughter named Claire, but would also use Emma-as we have always loved that, too. I don't think I'd reccomend using Claire as a mn because if you had a second dd, you'd have a great case for going with Claire as a fn-especially after using his fave fn. As for the mn possibilities you listed, I'd say Claire Alice or Claire Juliet are both really nice. I like the alliteration and sound of Emma Elizabeth. Another thing I will throw out there, is the possibility of using Claire Emmeline/Emeline so that he can give her the special daddy nn of Emma.

Thanks for your input! :) Unfortunately my FI doesn't like Emmaline, he just likes Emma.

The popularity of Emma does bother me a little. However I do feel it is popular because it is a classic name, not because it is trendy, so that makes me feel better. I do wish it would drop a little lower on the charts though. :)

I don't think I could use Alice as a FN since it is my mom's name. I wish FI would go for Juliet! I think it's so pretty. :)

Thanks Elle, you bring up a really good point I hadn't considered - a second DD! I'll keep that in mind. I want 2-3 kids. You're right that it would be better to "save" Claire for a future first name.

I love Claire Alice and Claire Juliet. Both very pretty I think. :) I like girls names that are very clearly girls, but not overly flowery or cutesy, I think both of those fit the bill. I'm glad you like the aliteration and sound of Emma Elizabeth. I really do too, but I know it's not for everyone.

What is your Claire's middle name if you don't mind sharing?
