Feeling sick of our name list....

This is why I could NEVER pick a name for my child ahead of time....I still like all the names we are considering for this baby, but I think I am a little bored of them/sick of them!

Of your boy list, I like Evan. It's easy to spell and pronounce and more masculine that Casey. Grady makes me think of the Sanford & Son character (retro reference award!) and Donovan is very last-namey. I guess I have that impression because I knew a Donovan family growing up.

Both girl names are great! If I was pressed to choose, I'd pick Claire. Molly is timeless though and if you are planning ot use both and just deciding which to use as a middle name, Molly Claire flows better than Claire Molly. But it really depends what you want to call her - that's way more important than "flow" in my opinion.

Are you looking for fresh ideas?

I think Grady is a GREAT name for a little brother for Brennan. I also like Evan but it's quite similar to Brennan (two syllables, short "e" in the first syllable, same ending). Donovan is nice too; I actually like it a lot but I'm not a big fan of the potential NN Don. I don't dislike Casey but it just doesn't have the same masculine 'feel' as Brennan (just my opinion of course!).

Other possibilities for boys . . .

Ewan/Ewen
Flynn
Garrett (I really like this with Brennan)
Ian
Keane
Keaton
Niall
Roman
Shane

Personally, I like Claire better than Molly though either name is fine.

Some other possibilities . . .

Bridget
Camille
Deidre/Deirdre
Mila/Myla
Nora
Paige
Sadie

Perfectly normal...hence the list of nine boys' names that we took to the hospital and STILL spent two days deciding on.

Thanks for your suggestions Jenna! I will have to stew over them!

Funny you like Evan best, because I think that is the least likely contender for us!

I have always loved the name Casey for a boy and not at all for a girl.

I am pretty sure you are right Jina in that I am sick of them because it is the last month or pregnancy - I am DYING to know if it is a boy or a girl - and we have just been round and round with the same names for almost 9 months!

I am feeling that about Donovan lately too. That and Grady. I feel like Casey will have the "boy or girl" connection to it and Evan is just a little more "common" than I am comfy with. I just WISH my husband would consider Callum more :-)

I love both our girl names, but there are a handful of others that I like a lot too and my husband just doesn't seem to want to consider anything else! Both have sentimental history for me (especially Molly).

Why is naming a child so darn hard?!!?

Thanks for your comments and suggestions! I think we have pretty much knocked Evan off the list unless it just really seems to fit him. I hate the fact that Casey can and is used for girls also. I think it could be such a cool/sporty guy name (I think of Casey at the bat), but it is used so much for girls anymore that I am bothered by it.
The nn with Donovan is something we have gone back and forth on so much. I have pretty much come to the conclusion that (with lots of input from friends and family) that we could avoid it. I always worry that when he gets older he will switch to it, but I also think we can instill that is not a cool name! Plus I think as he gets older his friends are likely to just call him by his last name.

I so wish I could use Nora (as it incorporates my maiden name), but my husband is quite anti!

Thanks for your input and insight Kristen! It is just such a different feeling than I had with Brennan. I was so excited by our names and finally choosing one!

I am really liking Donovan lately also! That and Grady (which I know is not a fave on this board).

Thanks for your suggestions as well. I am so torn by our girl names as both have really sentimental reasons to be choices for us (especially Molly). I think the part of me that strives for a bit more of a "unique" name is bothered by the classic-ness and popularity of both names.

I think when you are a name geek like us & you got nothing left to do but obsess you start to freak out a bit :)

I remember when you were thinking about Brennan because I gave you the link to the restaurant my friend named her son after.

Hey, I just thought of something. If you go with Donovan, you could use the nn Van. Sweet!
