Help! Baby name debate

We are having a girl this fall and have agreed on her name for several weeks now: Providence. Today hubby calls me saying he looked it up in the dictionary and it means God. He thinks it would be inappropriate to name our child God. Here is the most common definition:

I now worry he doesn't love it anymore and am very torn....everyone I suggested we speak with (due to extensive religious knowledge) he said no because we are keeping the name a secret until she is born. Therefore....anonymous internet world....please weigh in!
Well, I tend to think of providence as God's will and direction, rather than actually His name. I would say that if your husband thinks the name is uncomfortably close to naming the child God, though, it is a valid concern. If it helps any, I have never interpreted Providence as a alias for God.
Does he think all the Providence Hospitals are 'God' hospitals?
