Pronounced as 'mar-lay-nah'.

I really like this but think it may be too sophisticated/mature on a baby/little girl. We could use nn Marley or Lainey while she is young. Just brainstorming, wdyt?

Well, since Mallory (my first choice, which you know) isn't working, I actually really like Marlena for you. It is very versatile, and grows up well. As a young girl there are tons of cute options:Marley, Lainey, Marzi, Maisy, Mae, Maize/Maze, Marlo, etc. Very nice!

I still really like Mallory and who knows we may end up choosing it in the end but right now it doesn't seem to be THE name. I'm wanting something more different. I don't think I've ever ran Marlena by dh but I think I may. Not sure if it could be the name but only time will tell.

It makes me think of Days of Our Lives but it is a pretty name.

I used to watch that soap for years and I do think of that a bit.

Well, I have been throwing this name around in my head a bit too. Then, my local radio station was playing the song 3 Marlenas, and the dj always calls the song 3 Mar-lee-nahs instead of Mar-lay-nahs, which is the way I prefer it. Then it got me to thinking that it might get mispronounced often and I wasn't sold on that.

I also know a young Marina and a Melina- which I thought was kind of close. Have you noticed that a lot of these M names seem to be increasing in popularity? (Marley, Marissa, etc)

I like it! (I also think Lena would be a sweet nickname.)

I'm not liking Marlena today, lol. I didn't even run it by dh but I think I'm going to pass on it. Thanks for the replies. :)
