Middle name - ugh.

Me again! Sorry I took a little absense, but I thought we had our names situation settled. We're def naming her Stella *but* we are in a battle of sorts over the middle name.
As I hashed though before, I'm basically stuck with Maria. No variations, no budging, Maria. It's my MIL's name and frankly, I hate it. It means so much to my husband though and we did after all honor my side last time. *sigh*
Here's the real quetion. I'm IN LOVE with the name Fox. We were in 100% agreement that if this baby had been a boy, his name would have been Fox. DH loves the name as much as I do, so I wouldn't call this gender disappointment, but it was quite a blow to not be able to use that name . . . unless. Is it suitable for a girl? Would Stella Fox be the most amazing thing on the planet (say yes!)
Hubs says it's a boys name and too masculine for our little Stella bell. Is this true? Or can middle names be fun and quirky, so who cares? I mean there are girls named Grayson and Addison and Michael as fns. Who cares if a little girl has an ambiguously male, kid of bizarre middle name like Fox anyway? The little bonus here is it is my grandpa's nickname, so it's not like I'm cheating one child out of honoring a relative. Right? It's still my side, but it's only his nickname.
DH said on a scale of 1-10 (ten being def yes, one being no chance) he's at about a 2. If I can convince him Fox can go either way, I might gain a little ground.
Please not Maria! Gughhghghgh. I go back and forth between hating it and merely thinking it's not terrible. Today is hate day.
