A few days back I asked for help choosing between Scarlett, Hanna and Lucia and you came through for me amazingly. I thought I made up my mind about Lucia but I just can't get over the fact that this does not really fit with our heritage. I'm Polish and DH is German American and although Lucy sounds cute in every language, the pronounciation issues of Lucia are hard (for me) to overcome. DH is very adamant about not naming her just Lucy and he doesn't really like Hanna much.
So I woke up in the middle of the night once and decided to do a new search for a name that would work for our family. I came up with Greta and Helena. DH really appreciated my effort and we both really like Greta. Neither of us thinks that our LO will look like a Helena much... Funny how it works out though, before we got pregnant we thought that Gretchen will be the best name for our girl but gave up on it later in pregnancy because my family really did not like it. DH also thought that this name doesn't really suit an adult lady and he crossed it off after finding out that it is only usd in Germany as a dimunitive. I think Greta solves this problem as it can be called Gretchen when she's little and has a great strong and feminine name for later in life.
So, Greta Morgan R....el will make her appearance on June 25, 2010. Wish us luck, this has been quite a journey, name-wise and other... :-)
