So after my post about a month ago about baby names, it turned out I am pregnant. So now names are even more on my mind. Last night DH and I went through a baby name book, and also through the list of names we had from DD and the list I got from here.

Background, DS is 3 and named Desmond Kiran, DD is 17 months and named Eloise Asha. This baby will also have a Hindi middle name, probably Mira for a girl and Mohan for a boy, though we can chose other middle names. I would prefer to use a G or B name, but we are not set on using either one.

I have * the names DH likes best and # the ones I like best. I am open to all suggestions. We do not like extremely common names, and would prefer any name suggested is not in the top 300, lower is better. No androgynous names either.

Here are our current lists.

Boys:
Adrian
Alastair #
Beckett #
Bertram
Brannock *
Callum
Cormac
Edison
Felix *#
Galen
Quenton
Tavish #(only if I am having twins though)
Truman
Walden

Girls:
Acacia #
Althaea/Althea/Alethea/Athena
Beatrice
Brynn
Cordelia *
Fiona *
Geneva
Genevieve *
Georgia *#
Gwendolyn *
Hazel *# (this was going to be DD's name till a week before she was born, so we are unlikely to actually use it for the new baby)
Iris #
Josephine *#
Lila
Linnea
Maeve
Minerva *#
Portia *#
Rosalind
Rowena
Willow *
Xenia
Zinnia #

Yay, Sarah! Congrats on #3! Okay, for a girl I still like Romilly for you. BUT, I noticed that you both like Minerva. I think that would be perfect, as well. It's my first choice from the names you listed. I also like when the first and middle initials are both "M", for some reason. For a boy, Felix,Galen, and Truman would be my top picks.

I hope you are feeling well.

Yeah, I could hardly narrow down that girls' list at all. Those are some fabulous names. I almost hope you end up "having to" use a certain letter like with Eloise. I have often thought of that custom when naming our kids and wished it applied for us :)

If I had to pick a favorite of each for you, at this particular moment, they would be Felix and Portia. Ask me again tomorrow :)

Great lists, and congrats again!

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately I don't think any work for us.

boys:
Berkeley: To unisex
Ellis: Was on the list, DH doesn't like, plus we can't do an S at the end, since the baby's last name will start with an s.
Harrison: I can't deal with the nickname Harry, otherwise I love this name.
Henry: I had this one my list, but it is too popular and DH doesn't like it.
Joel: My Dad's name, don't name after the living.
Silas: an S name with our last name doesn't work, plus this ends in an s as well. I do love this name though.
Wendel: NMS
Wesley: DH doesn't like.

Girls:
Ada: I should like this, but I don't.
Aria: NMS
Miriam: Was on my list, but we removed it because it didn't work right with Eloise and Desmond.
Paige: Have a close friend whose daughter has this name.
Talia: DH isn't a fan
Tatum: NMS
Vienna: NMS
Waverly: NMS

Jodi: I am really liking Felix and Portia right now too. My only concern about Portia is people thinking we named her after Porsche.

I am leaning towards a G or B name because I really should use one of them, since both my Grandfather's died right around Eloise's birth, along with my Grandmother who she is named after. I am leaning more towards G since I know my siblings will name after my B grandfather, but are unlikely to name after the G one. Which is why Georgia is so appealing to me, since his name was George. I just can't quite get past the point my parents live in Georgia, it is holding me back from full love of the name.

midwestmom: Thanks for your thoughts. It is nice to see what people like to help narrow down some more.

Elle: I am also really loving Minerva, my biggest hold up is it doesn't sound quite right with Eloise and Desmond's names. I really do like Felix, I think it is my top boy's name right now.

Shana: Thanks for your thoughts on which ones you like best. Beckett and Georgia are likely what names I will end up choosing, because I should name after my Grandfathers Bennie and George.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and help so far.
