Hi, I need lot's of help! My husband and I are expecting baby #2 and we need help with names.

Our DD is Soraya (pronounced sa-RAY-ah) Catherine

Can anyone suggest any names that sound good with Soraya?

We really like Elias for a boy but aren't sure if it fits!!

Thanks in advance!

Can you give us some more info on where DD's name came from/ what inspired it, what you are looking for in a name, what you don't want in a name, and maybe a short list of boys names you are chewing over. I love Elias and think that it would sound good with DDs name.

Oops! Guess that would help! DH and I had heard the name Serae and could not figure out how to correctly pronounce it. As we started talking about how much we loved it ser-ray-ah instead of sa-rae we started looking for alternate spellings. After lots of research we came upon Soraya, hence her name. Since we didn't really have a real reason other than actually agreeing on a name, we've hit a road block this time!!

We don't like anything too trendy! We love that Soraya is the only one in her class.
We aren't too picky, just cannot seem to find the right name that fits with Soraya.

We have been suggested to use Sophie as a sister for Soraya. DH is still deciding if he likes it!!

For boys all we have are:

Joel and Elias

No, you can't use a common ole name like Sophie with a rare gem like Soraya. Let's see if I can cook up some siblings . . .

- Amaya
- Lyric
- Soleil (kinda close, but seems up your alley)
- Calis
- Lilas (pronounced LEE-la)
- Carys (KAR-iss)

Boys:

- Hadrian
- Manning
- Ellison
- Andreas
- Micah

Hi there.

Soraya is really cool, & very unique as well. I don't know that Elias & Joel are the perfect fits, but they are very handsome names that aren't terribly over done. If those are the ones you love, I'd say go for one!

Sophie is cute, but way too common.

Here are some more suggestions-

Boys-

Dashiell

Jonas

Khalil-Perfect!

Lennox

Orion-Perfect as well!

Thaddeus

Girls-

Athena

Callista

Isolda

Ione

Iona

Juniper

Lyra

Oriana

Yasmina

Zara

Hope this helps!

Anisa
Cadence
Miriam

Selena
Selma
Simone
Yasmine

I really like Elias for a boy. I think it's very handsome. Other names that might work:

Thank you so much for the suggestions!!!!

I let DH read the list and he really liked a few. He really liked Eden and Selah. But my question is, is Selah pronounced like the Christian word from the Bible?

Also, a friend suggested Sienna? WDYT?? DH likes it, I'm still searching! I really liked a lot of your names, but he's being picky!!

We're pretty much set on Elias Reid for a boy. DH wants his name in there, i'm not gonna argue!

Thanks again!

Elias Reid is handsome (and my boy is a III, so I'm all for family names).

Yes, Selah is from the Bible; I would say "SAY lah". Selah and Eden both have much the same feel--Biblical, not really popular names from another era, words made into names. I have heard of them for sisters, and I can see why they would appeal to the same people. I think they're great names.

Sienna's a color, and I generally like word names, so I'm okay with it. More names like this:
Sierra, Sage, Saffron, Scarlett, Rose, Violet, Lavender, Pearl, Sapphire, Ruby, Argente (means silver), Silver, Golda, Golden, Jett, Ebony, Magenta, Jade, Whitney, Morena (brown), Tana (tan a), Titania, Rubia (Spanish for blond), Rosa, Terra, Tierra, Emerald/Esmeralda, Amethyst, Azure/Azura, Lilac, Lily, Marigold, Susan, Daisy, Azalea, Viola, Rosemary, Marjoram, Coriander, Pepper, Ginger
