I'll give you Wren as sounding like a girl's name (though a very tomboyish girl,) but Ren makes me think of Kevin Bacon in 'Footloose'--couldn't be more boyish!

What Kristen said. ;)

PS I gave points to Laurence because of Mr. Olivier...

Seriously, you haven't seen Footloose? Get thee to Netflix.
I have a nephew named Ren, not a nn, just straight up Ren. My DH and his brothers all brought up Footloose to his dad,and he swears that is not where they got it from, but I'm pretty sure they still don't believe him 6 years later. My DH and his brothers have always been huge movie fans and pride themsleves on seeing every movie that comes out, even the bad ones. I think this is why the movie connection seems fishy to them. For me, I've seen the movie a fair share of times, and I did think of the movie when they announced his name, however, I easily believed him when he said they found it in a name book, not Footloose.
