twice the name trouble

We recently found out we're having twins. We have a list we started before our doctor gave us the news but now I feel like not only do we have to find names that would together but they can't be too twin like. So no same letter names or anything too cute together. Also, we'd like the names to work with their big brother's name, Alden Jeremy, who will be 4 in August. So far our list is

Pearl- we had planned on this for Alden if he was a girl. We still really love it and had planned on using it this time if we have a girl. With twins though we don't know what to use with it. Any suggestions?

For a boy we've been thinking we like the names
Vaughn
Sullivan
Solomon
Emmerich- because this starts with Em and is so uncommon we fear this one might be grabbed by people who like to use boy's names on girls. What do you think?

It's not a lot of names, we were having problems coming up with boy names. We both love the name Shepherd for a boy but think it doesn't work with big brother Alden. Maybe if we'd named him Alder :P However if you can think of some names to suggest I'd be grateful.

Stephanie

I only know one person named Pearl; her sister's name is Molly. Not sure if that appeals to you. Other possibilities . . .

Adele
Clara
Elise
Faith
Iris
Ivy
Mae (I think this is a good match with Pearl)
Myra
Reva
Stella

Of the boys names you've listed, Vaughn and Sullivan are my favourites. Although they don't work well together between both "Vaughn" and the last syllable of "SulliVAN" are too similar.

Some other names you might like . . .

Donovan
Ellis
Everett
Flynn
Henry
Keane
Rourke
Simon
Tobin

Good luck!

Hi there.

Alden is so handsome, & Pearl would be beautiful as a little sister.

Suggestions for a possible sister to Pearl-

Alice

Beatrix

Celia

Della

Elaine

Ivy

June

Louise

May

Maeve

Mira

Norah

Rose

Sylvia

Stella

Thea

Willa

As for you boy list-

Vaughn-I don't know about this. it's never seemed that attractive to me. I'm not very into 'baby boomer' names though, & this just reminds me of a grumpy middle aged man.

Sullivan-This is fine. The nn Sully is cute. I'm not sure that it's what I'd pair w/Alden.

Solomon-This is not my favorite w/Alden either, but it's so great that I'll get over it. Very strong, handsome, & manly. The nns Sol & Soley are darling too.

Emmerich-If someone used this for a girl, that'd be just ridiculous. This is incredibly masculine. Of course, I'm not faulting you for worrying, because people sure are using manly names for little girls these days, but I wouldn't let that stop you from using it if this is your favorite. I like it w/Alden a lot.

Boy suggestions-

August

Abbott

Beckett

Bennett

Calvin

Grey

Harris

Miles

Oscar

Peter

Silas

Hope this helps!

Thank you everyone for the well wishes and the great suggestions. We're hoping to find out in about 5-6 weeks what these babies sexes are so maybe that will make this easier.

By the way should I stay away from names ending in an L sound because of Pearl since I'm staying away from P? I guess because I have aunts on both sides of my family who are twins and one set is named Cynthia and Cathleen the other set is Donna and Diane. I think that is too 50's so I want to stay away from P but I'm not sure if I should stay away from names like Nell because both end in L? Just asking. Thanks
