That would be my thought...it's pretty, but Anaïs Nin is such a strong connection for me (and has kind of weirded me out ever since I read one of her journals where she talked about having a fling with her father) that I'd have a hard time giving a child her name.

I love that name too! I've heard it pronounced all three ways, in fact. While I know the 3rd is the correct pronounciation, I'm sure in the US you can get away with whichever you prefer.

It is a pretty name, i just came across it in the book Beyond Jennifer and Jason......I think for me the pronunciation would hold me back. I also used to be in love with this perfume a while back called Anais Anais, and the botched ways it was pronounced were endless.

I instantly think of the swaddling blanket company, Aden and Anais, which, by the way, I'm loving their sleep sack right now. It's becoming a better known company, and therefore I think more people will become aware of the name and how it is pronounced. So my opinion is that if you are going to use the name, use the correct pronunciation. Otherwise, you run the risk of people constantly pronouncing your child's name "wrong" by actually pronouncing it right.
