Wanted to add that it's "3" Top Contenders as opposed to "4" b/c Catherine/Katherine I counted as 1 option since it's the same name just different spelling, KWIM?
Thanks for voting,

i'd spell Carolena if wanting "leana" pronunciation.
(i would say Carolina Caro-line-ah like the state)
of course, regardless of the name,
it's popularity, or spelling
will always be those who misspell/say, etc
spell & say as you love!

I voted for Catherine, but I prefer Cate or Cait to CiCi. That said, with Catherine you have a lot of nn potentials. You could certainly call her CiCi, but if she gets older and wants to be Cate or Catherine, she has that to fall back on.

I actually like all of your names.

My daughter's name is Gabrielle, but of course, we call her Gabi...I like Elle for a nn though...actually never thought of it. Gabi's middle name is Michayla...what are you thinking on MN's?

Thanks, but it will definitely be spelled Carolina (if we should use it). That is the correct spelling - as in Carolina Herrera, the designer. Plus, I think Carolena just doesn't look right.

Gabrielle is a great name, and I have loved Elle since high school (Elle MacPherson). But, Elle alone is just too sparce or something and plus with Gabrielle she has some options. However, Elle has become somewhat popular in different forms (Ellie, Ella) from names like Elizabeth, Eleanor, Elena, Ella, Eliana, etc.
As far as middle names. We're undecided. It will definitely be a family name of some sort. not sure.

I voted Carolina as I think its a refreshing change from the other 2 (although both are nice names.) I have to say that I would have pronounced it like the state until I read how you would like it pronounced. Regardless of how its pronounced, I still like it best!

I really like the name Carolina, although I prefer the nn Lina/Lena. CiCi is cute too, though. The former is just my personal preference. Good luck!

I like all your choices, but I went with Carolina b/c it was a nice change. I knew a Carolina when I studied in Mexico, and she went by the nn Caro. She was a fantastic person -- happy, sweet, and so much fun! I also like that Carolina has so many nn options -- Carrie, Cara, Lina/Lena, and of course, CiCi. I like the idea of giving her the option of changing her "identity" as she grows up.

Of course, you'll get people who pronounce it like the state (assuming you live in the U.S.?), but the Spanish- and Italian-speaking communities should get it right, and the others will learn.

Carolina is a great choice!

Carolina was my "name" in Spanish class in high school (so I did not pronounce it like the state). ;) I prefer the nn Lina (which would also make correct pronunciation of the full name more likely LOL), but it still got my vote! :)

Gabrielle/Gabriella/Gabby/Elle/Ella are all VERY popular right now, at least where I live (PA), so I'd avoid that one.

I prefer the spelling Catherine, but would also like the nn Cate for that one (CiCi might be cute for a very young girl, but a bit too cutesy for an older child, KWIM?).

HTH! :)
