I have a little Elena.
Thanks for sharing that thought which is actually a good point.
After saying the names "Alaina" and "Elena" over and over last night, I hear what you mean.

Despite Madeline's popularity, I do like the name and had to vote for it.
Kendall is nmsaa- I generally dislike unisex names.
Alaina is nice, but I prefer Elena, and dislike how Elena and Victoria but end in -a
Alana is nms. I love Alanna, but dislike the "on-uh" ending.

Oooh, I really feel compelled to respond!!
Even though I love Madeline, the "Maddie" names are so popular right now.
I voted for Alana because it's pretty and not too common. I think Lana is a cute nickname. I knew someone named Alana once, and no one had any touble with the pronunciation.
But if you're stuck between Elena and Madeline, I'd go with Elena. I think they're both pretty, but as other people have pointed out, there are a jillion little Maddies running around the playgrounds these days. (Though, there are a lot of little Ellies, too.) Laney might be a cute nickname.
Good luck making your choice.
Thanks for everyone for your votes and feedback!
Now, with just 4 days to go, we've been revisiting these 4 name selections and have also revisited the baby name book too (I don't think I'll stop until she's here!).
I think we've now officially crossed Madeline off of our list even though it received the most votes and even though we still think it's such a classic, beautiful choice.

Miranda Victoria: I love Miranda, but it seems a bit off with Victoria as mn.
Elena/Elaina Victoria: I prefer Elena spelling, and I looove this name. It's very feminine, & very classy. This is my second favorite ;)
Callista Victoria: NMSAA, sorry. I also don't think Callista goes well with Victoria.
Fiona Victoria: I'ev always been on teh fence about Fiona. I've loved it on kids I have met, but I've always got that nagging fear that one day someone is going to call her FiFi, lol
Alana Victoria: My favorite, by a landslide! It's strong, but feminine, and pretty. I have two friends named Alana, and no one seems to mispronounce their name. That, and they are both gorgeous, intelligent, and fun women, so I have a little bias, i think ;)
Congratulations, and good luck! =]
