Ace for a boy?

  • Yes!
  • As a nickname only
  • Not under any circumstance!

Okay, so I'm leaning more toward this as a nickname and here's my thought...

Our last name begins with E. So I thought about something like Aidan Christopher or Adam Christian or...well you get the idea... and his initials would spell ACE. He can always choose to go by his actual first name, or middle, when he's old enough to decide. I just think its plain cute!

You've been watching American Idol! LOL If he'll look like Ace from American Idol, go for it! ;-) I was just talking to my sister yesterday about what a cool name that is. We wondered if it were a nickname or his real name. It's hard to imagine a baby named Ace, but a teenager and a young adult it would be so cool! I think your idea of his nickname being Ace because his initials spelled ACE would be very cute! I love it.
I'm also due in September but I don't think my dh would ever go for Ace. ;-)

I voted "only as a nn" - and I also made the AI association, as I'm sure many will, so I'd definitely avoid this as a given name (incidentally, I remember reading somewhere that Ace is actually his mn ... his fn is Brett, I think).

After reading your post following the poll, I like Ace as a nn for you even more! I do think the A.C.E. initial thing is cute, given you do have an E ln (how convenient! LOL). I will say it would be odd if you were using a fn/mn combo ONLY to get these particular initials, but if you happen to like a name like Aidan Christopher (or whatever) and would use it nn or not (and since you mentioned him being able to choose to go by his nn, fn, mn, etc. once he's old enough, I'm pretty sure you have considered this and wouldn't randomly choose names with A.C. initials you wouldn't like otherwise LOL), then I'd go for it! ;)

I actually first heard the name on All My Children, there was a baby named Ace. Of course it got changed to Adam because, well, its a soap opera. LOL! The name came to me actually months ago (before the American Idol hottie) because

I think it's a really cute nickname, especially if you happen to like a name whose initials spell ACE. Actually, I think I went to college with a guy whose initials were ACE and we called him that occassionally. I forgot all about him until just now.

Well, hey, the fact that you had a name on your list FIRST and noticed the initials were Ace makes it even cuter to me! ;) Picking names to purposefully get the initials might seem odd, but like I said if it's names you already liked AND you can get the initials/nn you want from them I think it's pretty cool. ;)

I love it as a nn, especially since your ln begins with E. Have you considered these combos...?
