Have you considered Adelyn or Adeline (ad-e-leen or ad-e-line, long "i" sound) as an alternative/compromise? If you like both Addison and Madelyn it follows you might also like those. ;) I also like the similar Addiena.

Addison and Madelyn are both really trendy. There are SO many little Maddie's right now, the name is really losing its appeal. Instead of Addison, how about:

Adeline

Adelyn

Adelaide

Adelaine

Adele

I love the nn Addie, or with Adelaine you could use nn Lainie.

Prefer Madeleine or Madeline spellings (both are traditional...one French, one English) Madelyn is more made-up.

just make sure you understand the popularity of "maddie's", if you plan to use that as her nn. WIth Madison as #2 name in 2006 and Madeline as #12, there will be a LOT of maddies in her class and you may or may not care.
just a thought for you...
