I do love Penelope too. I know the standard nn is Penny but has anyone thought of playing on the middle of the name? Nelly would work too. I'd hate to see you dicsard Penelope just because of Penny. It's a lovely, lovely feminine name that will serve a girl well in life. Use it. and call her Nelly!

I love the name Penolope, I think it is gorgeous! If you love it, use it! Don't worry about nicknames, if people start calling her one just correct them and as she gets older she can do the same.

I also really love and it is in my top 5 list...I just wanted to show you something though, I am not sure if you believe in this stuff but the kabalarians description for this name is very unbalanced :( I am not sure if this is helped by an offsetting middle name?

Hope it helps....Morgan

The name Penelope creates the urge to be self-expressive and philosophical, but we point out that it limits self-expression and friendly congeniality creating loneliness. This name, when combined with the last name, can frustrate happiness, contentment, and success, as well as cause health weaknesses in the liver, bloodstream, heart, lungs and bronchial area.

The name of Penelope has given you an appreciation for many beautiful and refined aspects of life--music and art, literature, drama--and the outdoors, where you find much peace and relaxation, but it creates a far too sensitive nature. You sense and feel much that you do not understand, and sometimes you are alarmed at your thoughts and wonder about their origin. You rarely experience the tranquility that comes with stability of thinking or emotional control.

If you love it, use it. Why are you afraid? If you think it's too odd or old-fashioned sounding, you could always use the nn Elly. But, I htink Penny & Nelly would be ADORABLE nns for a little Penelope. I also think just calling her Penelope is lovely as well.

I love the name too and I don't think it's so unusuall as there were two in my 7th grade class (We were living in Chelmsford MA at that time)

One we called Penny the other was 'Pip' but I like the full name best.

P.S. Anyone in my generation who remebers Punky Brewster? Her full name was Penelope! She admited it to a social worker in one of the first few episodes. There are tons of NN's out there for it!

P.P.S. Good luck with the twins! I can't imagine having to pick 4 names at once! UGH!
