Here's my current list for a sister for Beatrice Dianne and Evelyn Rae... last name is Atlas :

Charlotte
Claire
Esther
Marjorie
Vera
Rosemarie
Maureen
Marian
Lucille (nn Lucy)
Susannah
Genevieve
Naomi

Middle name options--I'd like it to mean "new," "star," "light," or "life":
Hester
Hesper
Estelle (obviously wouldn't use with Esther, which means star)
Nyx
Layla
Greta
Lena
Meira
Nova

Any advice would be much appreciated! :)

First of all, I LOVE your girls' names. Absolutely beautiful. Here are my thoughts for their little sister:

Charlotte -- absolutely love this one. Probably my favorite.
Claire -- lovely
Esther -- okay. I want to like this, but I've never been a huge fan
Marjorie -- pretty and different. I wouldn't have thought of this, but I like it
Vera -- not a fan of this one
Rosemarie -- sweet and pretty
Maureen -- love this, it's on my list as well
Marian -- okay, but I prefer Mary
Lucille (nn Lucy) -- I love this, but it's quite popular here.
Susannah -- LOVE this and I never hear it. I prefer it without the H.
Genevieve -- very pretty, but a bit too fussy/frilly for my taste
Naomi -- nice. Like Esther, I really WANT to like this name, but don't love it

Middle name options--I'd like it to mean "new," "star," "light," or "life":
Hester -- I like this
Hesper -- okay, I like Hester better
Estelle -- I really like this as a middle name. I think it will create a pretty flow
Nyx -- not a fan. It looks like a name from a comic book or Sci Fi novel
Layla -- LOVE this, but I definitely prefer the Leila spelling
Greta -- Love it
Lena -- love it
Meira -- is this pronounced Meer-uh? I like that
Nova -- okay, not as nice as the others

My favorite combinations are:
Charlotte Hester
Charlotte Estelle
Charlotte Meira
Lucille Hester
Lucille Greta
Susannah Estelle
Susannah Hester

Esther- nms

Rosemarie- nms, I would rather just see Rose

Maureen- this is a good match with the other two

Marian- another good one

Lucille (nn Lucy)-LOVE this with your other two!!

Susannah- I like this with your others also :)

Genevieve- this seems too frilly with Beatrice and Evelyn IMO

Nyx- I am not sure about this, or how to pronounce it

Thank you so much, ladies! :) You pretty much confirmed my favorites, as well as which middle names really work with the style we've chosen to go with our DDs' names.

Currently, my front runners are

Charlotte Estelle
Lucille Hester
Susanna Estelle
Charlotte Greta
Maureen Estelle
Susanna Esther

We'll see what DH has to say... he's been rooting for Charlotte all along, but I adore Lucy, too.

Do you think it matters that our last name is Atlas and there's a famous muscleman named Charles Atlas? I know that seems kind of obscure, but we've always been very careful with any associations. Have you ever heard of Charles Atlas? If not, I probably don't have much to worry about! :) I'm just an obsessive namer.

Thanks again to all of you.
Best,
Janel
Evelyn Rae (2)
Beatrice Dianne (stillborn @ 36 weeks on 2/29/2006 )
#3 GIRL! Due mid-December.

I think your frontrunners are perfect. The top three are definitely my favorites.

I've never heard of Charles Atlas. I totally understand wanting to avoid associations, but I don't think this is one to worry about.

Good luck!

Your girls have lovely names. ;) Here are my thoughts on your list for this one (I have three girls as well, btw ... always seems to surprise everyone LOL).

Charlotte -- love this, and it goes well with Beatrice and Evelyn
Claire -- a little abrupt next to the other girls' names, but still very nice
Esther -- I'd avoid another E name, since you do have other equally-nice options (especially if you pronounce Evelyn with a short E like the beginning of Esther)
Marjorie -- this isn't bad, but with your other girls I think I'd prefer Margaret
Vera -- I may be in the minority, but Vera has been growing on me lately. I'd also like Nora(h) or Cora for you
Rosemarie -- I'd like Rosemary, Rosalie or even simply Rose a LOT, but for some reason Rosemarie isn't quite as appealing to me
Maureen -- like this, and it also goes well with your girls
Marian -- I love Marian. Mary on its own is also quite nice ;)
Lucille (nn Lucy) -- this is great, especially with your other two, but Lucy is getting popular if that would bother you
Susannah -- not my favorite from this list
Genevieve -- I personally love this, although I'd wonder if it was a bit "much" next to her sisters' names?
Naomi -- love it

Middle name options--I'd like it to mean "new," "star," "light," or "life":
Hester -- I like this (not with Esther, of course LOL)
Hesper -- prefer Hester
Estelle -- like it
Nyx -- strongly DISlike it (sorry, reminds me of Styx hehe)
Layla -- I generally prefer the Leila spelling, but I do like the name
Greta -- like this a lot (but not with Marjorie, of course)
Lena -- love it!
Meira -- that's just lovely
Nova -- that's a Chevy (sorry!) ;)

*Seren also means "star," btw, in case you wanted any other suggestions.

My favorite combos would probably be:

Charlotte Meira
Claire Estelle
Esther Layla
Marjorie/Margaret Lena
Vera Hester
Rosemarie Estelle
Rosemary Layla
Maureen Greta
Marian Lena
Lucille Greta
Genevieve Seren (thought I'd throw it in there LOL)
Naomi Layla

It actually seems a bit hard to pair some of these up because every mn but Nyx is two-syllables (as are half the fns). Perhaps some one- or three-syllable mns would work well. Just a thought!

HTH

ETA: I've never heard of Charles Atlas either. ;)

Karen,

Thanks for your thoughts! This board has been a great sounding board so far.

I love Charlotte Nova, which you suggested. I also really like Marjorie Estelle and Lucille, though I'm not sold on a particular middle name with Lucille.

The biggest factor is that DH really adores Charlotte substantially more than the others. I think we might be settled on that.

What do you think of these:

Charlotte Estelle
Charlotte Nova
Charlotte Renee (I'm not a fan of Renee on its own, but I like the sound with Charlotte)
Charlotte Dawn
Charlotte Elaine

Any stand out as great (or bad!?)?

TIA.
Janel

I think Charlotte Estelle, Charlotte Nova and Charlotte Dawn are my favorites.

Charlotte Estelle is nice. Top two are Estelle and Nova -- I guess it would depend on your last name.
