Here's my current list for a sister for Beatrice Dianne and Evelyn Rae... last name is Atlas :

Charlotte
Claire
Esther
Marjorie
Vera
Rosemarie
Maureen
Marian
Lucille (nn Lucy)
Susannah
Genevieve
Naomi

Middle name options--I'd like it to mean "new," "star," "light," or "life":
Hester
Hesper
Estelle (obviously wouldn't use with Esther, which means star)
Nyx
Layla
Greta
Lena
Meira
Nova

Any advice would be much appreciated! :)

Marian is on your list, and I really like it. But I like Miriam just a little bit more, and it gives you Mimi for a nickname, which I think is precious. My pick would be Miriam Estella (I prefer Estella over Estelle). Another option is Estella as a first name, with the nickname Tess, another of my favorites. I really love Estella!

Elinor means shining star, and honestly, I think I prefer it over all the first names on your list. It has a very similar feel to Beatrice (Great name, by the way!) and Evelyn (another adorable name). This would be my favorite for you! And Ellie or Nora would be a cute nickname.

Zoe, meaning "life" would be a very cute middle name.

So, my picks:

Elinor Zoe
Estella Zoe
Miriam Estella
Miriam Elinor
Zoe Miriam

Thank you! I love all of those names. We almost named Beatrice Eleanor. I was scared off by the popularity of Elle, Emmie, Emily, and Ella. I saw so many people choosing their names, and I figured that people would start picking Eleanor/Elinor as a fn and using one of those nns. I'm anti popularity (my husband teases me by fibbing about my name picks' popularity... "Oh no, Janel, it's up 200% the past year!"). So, out of those you recommended, I think I like Miriam Estella. I'm adding that to the list (I love Miriam, but it'll be a tough sell to DH).

Janel!

I have heard of Charles Atlas, but I don't think Charlotte Atlas would have made me think of him if you hadn't pointed it out.

FYI, Layla and Nyx both mean night, so if you were looking for things meaning light or life, you might want to try one of these (I tried to avoid any already suggested):

Life:
Aisha
Liv
Ola
Vida
Vita
Vivian

Light:
Helen or any of its variants
Anything with Lu at the beginning
Nora or any variant
Anything beginning with Ora/Aura
Sveta

Star (meaning or actual star):
Asta
Astra
Astrid
Estrella
Etoile
Hoku
Lyra
Seren
Starla
Stella
Svetlana
Vega

Yay! I'm glad you liked Miriam. I have a real soft spot for it. I have the same soft spot for Beatrice/Beatrix, so when I saw your daughter's name, I got really excited. Estelle is a family name for me, so I've thought a lot about having a baby girl named Estella...I'm glad you liked it, too!

Hi there, Janel. Beatrice & Evelyn are gorgeous names.

I really like the last half of your fn list best. Maureen & Marian are particurally refreshing. Naomi & Genevieve don't seem to *go* as well w/your dds' names as some of the others. Lucille fits in perfectly though, & Susannah doesn't clash. I love Susannah nn Sunny if you were looking for a nn there.

My personal top picks would be:

Maureen Estelle

Marian Estelle

Marian Layla

Lucille Greta

Lucille Meira

Hope this helps!

I've heard of Charles Atlas and I didn't make the association because I didn't say the two names together.

First of all - GREAT names for your DDs. LOVE the name Evelyn I so rarely hear it it's on my list.

Charlotte : Very nice - love the NN Charlie
Claire : Personal fave - my DD is Claire Elise
Esther : Wouldn't do another "E" name.
Marjorie : Seems to be a different style than the other 2. More 50-60s.
Vera : Again, different style, not as ncie as your DDs names.
Rosemarie : I prefer Rosemary like the spice/plant.
Maureen : Nice, makes me think of a redhaired woman.
Marian : Also nice, but you have nicer ones on your list.
Lucille (nn Lucy) LOVE this with your DD's names!!
Susannah : Also very nice with your DDs names. Very complimentary.
Genevieve : Also very nice with your DDs names. Lots of girls on this board LOVE this name so I keep hearing it around here, but I still love it and I have yet to hear of an ACTUAL baby with that name. I know one grown woman with that name.
Naomi : Beautiful but more biblical than your DDs names, they seem more Victorian feeling.

My faves are:
Charlotte
Claire
Lucille
Susannah and
Genevieve

How about:

Charlotte Estelle
Claire Maureen

I love Charlotte Estelle and Claire Maureen! I'm so glad to have this board. Thanks for the compliments on my girls' names... naming is so important, I think! We thought long and hard. I actually think it gets harder the more I have. Evelyn was difficult, because we knew we were choosing a particular sound/style. Beatrice was so easy, it was scary. We saw it and just knew. This time has been the hardest, because I feel like I already picked TWO perfect names for girls :) LOL.

Thanks again for your feedback.

I am not sure about the middle names, but I love the name Claire. For some reason it always reminds me of a pretty French girl. A very nice, classy name.
