Can I suggest Lillibette or Lisabette/Lizabette with nickname Betty. Lillibet looks like a town name...I think Lilliput or something like that is in a children's book/movie...I can't place why I am thinking of it but that's what the name instantly made me think. Oh wait - it is in Gulliver's Travels.

Anyhow I think spelling it bette at the end is very pretty and feminine and leads perfectly to nickname Betty.

I really like Lizabette...

Good luck!!!

Is there a reason you can't use Lillibeth or Bethany? I know you want to honor someone by using the name Betty, but there's no reason that can't be a nn for Lillibeth/Bethany. Or do you really want the name to be "unique"?

No offense to any of the other ladies who've made posts, BUT...

Please, please do not murder the spelling of a name or completely make up any names in order to find one that lends itself easily to "Betty" as a nickname. The name Lilibet (I like it spelled this way) is perfectly lovely, and one I've considered myself. It's Queen Elizabeth II's nickname, as a matter of fact.

For that matter, if you decide not to use Lilibet, Betty used to be the most common nickname for the name Elizabeth (or Elisabeth) before the advent of Beth, Liza, Ellie, etc. Trust me, as person who has grown up with a name that is spelled strangely, your child will thank you in the future for giving her a full name that is easily pronounced and spelled, even if you do plan to call her by a shorter version.

Stick with Lilibet. It's gorgeous!
