I knew brothers named Tyler, Trevor, and Travis! I don't think it's a problem...it's kinda cute!

Jill,

Thanks for the feedback-I think Tyler nn Ty is cute, but didn't know if it sounded okay with Trevor! I don't think I could use Travis though...that's how a bunch of people seem to remember Trevor's name after I say it...they'll ask me how my Travis is doing...LOL

Good luck with your fourth, wow :)

Thanks, I'm glad to hear that some people think it's a cute combination :) Good luck on narrowing down names, I'm voting in all of your polls :)

I think they are a little similar-- they both start and end with the same letter and have 2 syllables. Even though they don't rhyme, I think they are too "matchy". I can see these names on twin wrestlers.

Best of luck to you!

Hi, Marguerite. First off, let me say that I can tell you are really thrilled that so many people think they're good sibling names. So, I'm really sorry that I feel so compelled to write to you and totally disagree. LOL

I must admit that I am not at all fond of sibling names that sound "matchy" especially on boys. If you notice, most of the posters wrote "cute" or "very cute," etc. Of course, right now your boys will be the "cutest" things in the world to you. But will it be "cute" to a 20 and 22 year old man to be Trevor and Tyler?

To me, and I've noticed that I'm hugely outnumbered on this board, "matchy" names lessen the beauty of each name. I LOVE the name Trevor. Strong, classy, lasting. Trevor Mason has perfect flow. I really like the name Tyler. Appealing, "grows up" well. They are certainly in the same "vein" but I simply do not like them together. Way too close.

I am in total agreement with you on Ty. It is a precious name for 2 yrs. old or 25 yrs. old. I'm not really even opposed to Ty and Trevor, if you must do same letter...they are different enough. It's Tyler I don't like with Trevor.

Might I suggest- I know a little boy who is simply Ty. Ty Brennan actually.

Also, Tyson is a less similar to Trevor and you could still use Ty.

B/c I like Ty so much and your Trevor Mason combo, I'm curious about mn! Do you have any yet? So sorry to be in such disagreement with the others...Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be perfect for your family! Take care, Ginger

Ginger,

First of all, thank you so much for your explanation and honest opinion :) I was thinking it was neat that people tended to think the names were okay together, but the more I even saw them together in the poll, the more I thought they are way too close! LOL Thank you for the compliments on Trevor's name-it's always nice to hear people like a name you've chosen :)

I am not usually one for matchy names either, or even names that necessarily start with the same letter generally..I think I liked Ty...and you're right-Ty could be used on it's own, it just sounds like a feminine name when paired with my last name (when they are said together, that is). I really like Kai, for example, but nixed it for the same reason-how it sounds with our last name.

I hadn't thought far enough to have thought of a middle name...I was just throwing out some ideas for a (hopefully not too distant :) sibling for Trevor...if we have a daughter, her name is already picked out...Allison Kavita.

Thank you again :)

Your selection of Allison drives home my point, I think.

Listen to Trevor & Allison together. Wonderful complements without being matchy. I like to think about "little" Trevor & Allison(very cute without being "cutesy"), but also grown-ups Trevor & Allison coming home to see "Mama, (they sound distinguished and well-adjusted)." Each name is even more beautiful when paired together like that.

Is Kavita a family name or combination of special names? Very interesting. It reminds me of one of my unusual faves-Keturah. Again, your girl name has great flow!

I'm sure the perfect name for a little bro to go with Trevor is out there. Keep us posted on ideas! Take care and good luck with future ttc, Ginger P.S. Too bad Kai doesn't work! I LOVE this name.
