I really like the ones that end with the n sound. Although I don't know if that would make it difficult. I voted for Lauren but also like Erin and Katherine.

Lauren May

Katherine May

Erin May

I don't think Erin goes as well with the MN. Good luck! Jules

Just to give some background... we're expecting our second baby girl on Thanksgiving Day (although some pregnancy complications have indicated that she may arrive sooner than that). Anyway, we didn't have too much trouble deciding on Megan Joy when DD#1 was born, but we're really struggling this time!

We have agreed that the mn will be May (after my maternal grandmother's mn) unless we find a first name that it absolutely doesn't flow with. Other than that, DH likes more common names, and I want something that's at least slightly less common. Our last name is very long and a bit difficult to pronounce, so I don't want anything too terribly difficult to say or spell.

My favorite is probably Aliza because Aliza May and Megan Joy both mean "great joy." I also like the potential nns of Ally and Liza. My other favorite is Elena.

DH really likes Katherine (nn Kate/Katie) and Erin.

Our compromise names are Andrea, Juliana (after my great-grandmother), and Lauren. I don't like Julie as well and would probably call Juliana either by her full name or Anna/Annie for short.

It's so hard agreeing on something we both like! Any opinions are helpful. Thanks for voting!

I love the name Megan Joy...:) I really like Aliza, but have a question: is it pronounced like Eliza (uh-lie-za)? IF so, I am just checking :) If so, I like Aliza May best, although I do prefer the spelling Eliza, myself. I do think Eliza has the quality you're looking for of being a little different too, and it complements Megan wonderfully imo :) I think we have the same taste because my next favorite is Elena too, LOL... but Aliza May is just darling...

good luck!

Yeah, I was pronouncing Aliza like Eliza. I also like the Eliza spelling better, but I found that Aliza meant "joy" while Eliza meant "consecrated to God" or something similar. Plus, I know DH likes the nn Allie better than Ellie, so I was kinda hoping to win him over with that one. ;-)

I really am in love with Aliza. I just don't think I'm going to be able to convince DH.

Thanks for your input!

Aliza really popped out at me too. Though I am thinking of it as A leezuh, which I do prefer. But either way is nice. Aliza Katherine would be good too. Good luck!

I do like Julia, but I think DH likes Juliana better. Plus, Juliana is a family name and has more options for nns: Julie, Julia, Anna, Ann, Annie, Liana, etc.
