Benjamin David for sure! Ira Prescott sounds stuffy and very old man to me!

I have a Benjamin so you know I love that name. But there are a lot of Benjamin/Bens out there now. I think that Ira is refreshing. I grew up with a a few Iras (mid 60's-70s in a very Jewish Chicago suburb). If you want somethign a little different Ira is nice. Is Prescott a family name? I like Ira Benjamin.

Oh, Ira is just excellent!

My uncle is Ira Paul and I was friends with an Ira Sender in school. I like both of their names very much. Prescott throws me off, though. It doesn't feel like it matches at all. Ira Benjamin or Ira David (Ira David especially, since they're linked names) would make more sense to me. Is Prescott a family/maiden name? If not, I'd discourage it. It seems completely at odds with the goodness of Ira.

Here are some combinations with Ira from my past camper and student lists (I was a camp counselor for a number of years as well as teaching at a day school):

Ira Daniel
Ira Martin
Ira Gilad
Ira Nathan

So... why Prescott?

Definetly Benjamin. Ira sounds very feminine to me, the first time you posted about it I was mistaken and thought it was for a girl (sorry!). Benjamin is very nice though.

Thank you for all of your input. Prescott is not a family name, but a name that my dh found in the name book that he really liked. No significance at all.

I was kind of confused...I thought I set this up as a poll, sorry, but I was excited to read responses of what people really thought rather than just yes's and no's.

There's definitely a gender issue with Ira in some places. I used to have a boss with that name who used to get mail addressed to Mrs. Ira .... from other parts in the country.

That said, I like it with a middle name other than Prescott.
