I voted its ok, because I really don't feel strongly about it either way, it does however sound like "latent period" which is a term we use a lot in nursing school, so I am not a fan of Layton. Sorry!

I voted that it's just okay. It's so similar to Payton/Peyton, which is now popular for girls and boys, and it has the same feel as Kaden/Braden/Jaden/etc. that are also so popular. The only association I have with the name is tennis player Lleyton Hewitt (sp?).

Anyway, there's nothing wrong with the name, IMO, but it's not my style.

I had a hard time thinking of it without thinking of the leader of the NDP in Canada, Jack Layton. I guess it would be like using "Gore" in the US...although Layton is certainly nicer sounding. LOL. ;-)
