Thanks for your thoughts -- very insightful.

Question for everyone: would a name like Diego be totally wrong on a very fair-skinned, probably blond or even red-haired baby? It's something I've been wondering about lately.

I have to say that it would be a little strange, especially with the current popularity of Dora and Diego with preschoolers. However, that might just be b/c I've never known a Diego in real life. I did know a Dora when I was in elementary school, and she was a fair-skinned blonde -- I'm not sure how her parents came up with her name since her sister was Sarah (nothing too unusual there).

Anyway, that's JMO. Even though I love many of the ethnic names, I don't think they go well with our very German last name.

Good luck making a decision! You have lots of great options on your list.

Thanks for your input. I'm confused, though -- are Dora and Diego characters on some sort of kids' show or something? I don't have ank children yet, so I don't know these things! :-)

LOL, I'm sorry, I should have explained that. I sometimes forget that not everyone's lives revolve around Dora, Diego, Cinderella, and Elmo. ;-)

There's an animated TV show for preschoolers on Nickelodeon called "Dora the Explorer". It's about a 7-year-old Latina girl. Each episode takes kids on an adventure where they learn various things, including some Spanish words.

"Go, Diego, Go!" is a spinoff of Dora. Diego Martinez is Dora's 8-year-old cousin who helps rescue an animal in trouble in each episode. It's similar to Dora, but it has an animal/science theme. Check out www.nickjr.com for more info.

Dora and Diego are both great shows, and they're huge hits with preschoolers.

    Hope that helps!
