I voted yes, but that's assuming she was born in the spring.

I went to high school with a girl named spring. It fit her so well. I totally think you can use the Spring.

My favorite season name is Winter, and I like Spring a lot. It's unfortunate that the word is also associated with the coily metal item :) But mostly, the word makes me think of the season. Summer is lovely, but almost overused. Autumn, I just have never liked - rhymes with bottom. So, I'd say, go for Spring!

I voted not sure... I mean, if people can name their child Autumn or Summer or April or January, then why not Spring?

But I agree with one of the previous posters that while, on the one hand, I am envisioning the season, all lovely and colorful with flowers blooming and birds chirping, on the other hand, I am envisioning a coiled metal spring, like a slinky or something, or a mattress spring. So that's why I'm on the fence.

Also, I tend to like names that can be shortened into a nickname or an affectionate alternative, and Spring just couldn't be, unless you wanted a daughter called "Springy"!

I voted "not sure" also, because I immediately thought of the unfortunate nicknames, such as "Springy" and "Bouncy." But that aside, it is a viable a name as Winter (lovely), Autumn, or Summer.

What about Primavera, which Italian for Spring? That' pretty. Or does that make you think of the pasta? Perhaps look into other language's words for Spring. I took french, but I can't think of what the word is.

Good luck. Interesting question.

I grew up with a cousin named Spring. I don't ever see her anymore but the funniest thing is I grew up with her and I never once thought of a metal coil. Just thought of the season. Spring was a nice person when I knew her. She had a bubbly personality.

Wow-I never thought of a coil either. Unlike everyone else, I had pictured the name for a boy. That is because my grandfather's name was Spring. I never thought of it as an unusual name because that was my Grandpa. He would be in his 90s now if he were alive. He was from the South, so perhaps it was a Southern naming tradition. I never thought to ask. I voted yes because I thought of my grandfather. I have never known anyone else named Spring. I guess it would be OK for a girl since there are so many Autumns and Summers and Aprils and Wednesdays now that are female. Thought provoking....

Anything goes these days. I don't think you can get away with it if you already have a Summer and Autumn though!!
