We are having a baby in January and are thinking about the name Darby for a boy. What does everyone think? Does this name seem too feminine for a boy? I would love to hear from everyone.....Thanks!

At first I thought it would be fine for a boy. But then it reminded me of "Barbie." hm...

The only Darby I have ever met was female. It seems like a girls name to me. Sorry.

Eh, I have met three Darbys and they were all female. Sorry, but I do think that it is going to be seens as a girls name. It has been in the top 1000 girl baby names for the last decade, but never on the boy list.

I think Darby is pretty feminine, maybe because it's so close to Darcy.

I think of Darby as a girl's name.

I just read about a little girl named Darby in one of my magazines so yes, I think it is a girl name and not great for a boy.

I'm sorry to sound negative here but YES I do think it is too feminine for a boy, given the current climate of unisex and surname names used for girls. I much prefer Darby for girls these days.

I don't feel it's feminine but it reminds me of that old movie about a leprechaun named Darby O'Gill. It was a favorite when I was a kid.

But I actually think it's ok for a boy, I know a little boy named Darcy.

When I first saw your post, I thought, "God Bless You!" because I've always loved Darby for a boy, and would love to see it used, but would be too chicken to use it, since, as the others said, it's almost always used for girls now. It was used a lot in English lit (I wonder if it's still used for boys in the UK?), so that's what I think of...a 19th century gentleman. I have met one little Darby, a girl, but will still think of it as a boy name. If I ever come across a boy Darby, I will applaud his mother!

So, I'm torn. I love it, but
