We are having a baby in January and are thinking about the name Darby for a boy. What does everyone think? Does this name seem too feminine for a boy? I would love to hear from everyone.....Thanks!

girl's name to me too.

however, would it be any different than

Stacy, Tracy, Allison, Shannon, Ashley(and yes known grown men of all these names)

..list goes on..

if go with Darby, definitely have strong/clearly masculine/traditonal/classic-like mn.

I would originally think of Darby as a boys name, but I think it's a little effeminate-- first of all, it reminds me of the female name "Darcy". And even without a girls' name that's similar, I think that this is a name that people will wind up using it for their girls, anyway.

It also reminds me of a movie with a character named Dobey Gillis...and I dont' know, Dobey just sounds like a dud name to me...

lastly, it seems a little last-name-ish--I believe there is a singer named Terrence Trent Darby.

Best of luck to you!

I have only known two Darby's and they were both girls.

Maybe something similar would work, then you could use Darby as a nn.

Darwin

Darin

Darbin

Darius

Darvin

Or use a Dar name with a B middle name, to get Darby for the nn. like Darin Benjamin or something.
