Davis for a boy? Am I even pronouncing it properly ('dave-iss')?

Davis is all last name to me. I know lots of people like surnames as first names, but to me, Davis is so common that it would be like giving your child the fn of Smith or Johnson -- sounds very strange to me.

It's not horrible, but wouldn't be my favorite of your choices either.

Davis is my Maiden name, and I've recently come across several little boys named Davis, which I think is a great name. However, I was worried that people might use Dave as a nickname for him which I don't like, so we didn't end up using it for our firstborn. (We used Davis as my son's middle name.)

I voted that I liked it. I think it's very spunky and I would use it in a minute. It is short enought that it wouldn't need a nn either. Good one!!!
