I think of Samson and Delilah. Then I think of that obnoxious woman on the radio. ( http://www.radiodelilah.com/home/home.html )
(Honestly, I dislike that radio host far more than I dislike Delilah of the bible. Frankly, I'd like to hear her side of the story.)
Despite both of those negative associations, I like the name. I definitely like it better than Lilah, which I think is too common and lumped in with all the Lily/Lilian names. If you are looking for an alternative or an alternate nn to Lilah, I'd go with Delia. I like that on its own too.
I think of Sampson and Delilah, but it could grow on me!

That woman on the radio is UNBEARABLE!! And who are these people calling her? I have news for her listeners, if you are talking to her and dedicating songs to some guy on her show, he will *never* hear them.
Anyway, lol. I really do like the name; it's beautiful. And I agree with you -- Delia is another great option.
I actually think that the name Delilah is very pleasing aesthetically, but it's too inextricably linked to the entire chapter of Judges in the Bible for me. It would rather much be like naming my daughter Jezebel...and why you'd want to name a child after a woman who was thrown from her bedroom window by her own chambermaids and then eaten by dogs is beyond me (though I read a recent birth announcement for a Jezebel Claire...whatever).
At any rate, you didn't ask about Jezebel...back on track. I really much prefer Lila, though I agree with Annie that all the Lil- names have become too common recently. As a person who LOVES the long I sound, though, Lila's still a keeper for me.
Also, for what it's worth, I also think of that awful woman on the radio. She's truly too terrible for words.
Delia is also nice, though I prefer the longer Cordelia (but that's just because it's a family name for me). I'd probably use Cora as the nickname for Cordelia, but Delia is also very pretty.
