Do you like this name?

  • Our last name is "Farkas" (pronounced Far-kiss)
  • So, we've been thinking about using "Ellis" for a first name
  • and "Robert" for a middle (honoring my deceased Father)
  • What do you think?
  • Yes?
  • No?
  • I have another suggestion....

I do like the name Ellis but I don't like the sound of Ellis Farkas....I think it is because of the s's at the end and together it doesn't look that masculine.

Ellis isn't a bad name but it doesn't flow well w/ your ln. It's the "s" that makes it difficult. BUT... the more I say it now the more it might sound ok. Ugh, sorry I'm not more help.

I guess what it comes down to is that the immediate reaction to the name combo does NOT sound good but it grows on you after a while. So, do you want the name to have a good first impression or is it ok for the name to be one that grows on people?

I agree with the other posters the s's at the ends of the names make it a little too rhymey. What about Elliott Robert or Eli Robert? I think either of them sound great with your last name.

Best of luck,

It sounds ok when you say the full name, but Ellis Farkas doesn't sound so good (a little too rhymey with the "is" sounding endings. Elliot would sound ok, if you like that name as well.

I voted no because I think Ellis has to many of the same sounds as your last name. On it's own its a fine name though; maybe you could turn it around? Robert Ellis Farkas sounds much better (at least I think so!)

I'd like the sound of Robert Farkas better than Ellis Farkas. Ellis and Farkas don't go together well, imo. Not even for a nickname.

I really like the name, and it sounds great with the middle name. But Ellis Farkis, just sounds funny, and since that's what he'd be going by most of the time, I'd search for a different first name.

If you definitely like those names I would switch them to Robert Ellis Farkiss. You could still call him Ellis. I think it flows better. Good Luck. Tara

Ellis sounds way to close to the ending sound of your last name althoughbeit is a very neat name. would you consider Evan Robert Farkas
