Another variation is Jessamyn or Jessamine.
I'm not crazy about Jessalyn and my Husband doesn't like any of the "Jess" names.
He wants me to name our next Girl Addison. I think it may end up being too popular now.
Any more suggestions?

P.s. Thanks for backing me up before!!
Well I AM a Jessica, and I can tell you that I hated my family calling me Jessie and Jess when I was younger. In fact they still use Jess and it grates on my nerves. I think that it's disappointing that so many people think the name Jessica sounds dated though. I know that people used it too much in the 70's along with Jennifer, but my Great-Grandmothers name is Jessica, so it was passed down to me. Many names have been off the top 20 list for many years and are coming back now. I think it is nice and classy to revive them. Who needs another Ava or Emily? Besides, you don't want your child to have 4 other people in their kindergarten class with the same name. It's getting grossly ridiculous with people combining names and making up their own names too.
So I guess what I am trying to say with this is that I think it would be nice to revive Jessica, but do not shorten it and give her one of the nicknames as her given name. If you do not like Jessica, which is by all means fine, pick something else altogther, don't ruin it.
Just my opinion, but hope that helps you make your decision.
Jessica
Thanks so much,

Jessie
Thank You! I think that Jessica as a middle name would be just lovely and it works great if you pick a shorter first name, that way a 3 syllable middle name really rounds it out. Mine is in the opposite order: Jessica Lynn.
But had I had a choice for myself, I would have loved Kylie Jessica or Megan Jessica.
Glad that you don't feel the "dated" thing with this one.....It's not like it's Eleonor, geez.
I was REALLY surprised to hear people say that.
Jessica
Actually, datedness refers to a name that was very trendy and popular for a short time, like Jessica -- which was top ten quite recently (basically 1976-99) -- and has since fallen out of favor. It doesn't mean the name ISN'T used now, only that it tends to date a person to that particular time period when it was so over-used, in this case girls/women between roughly ten and 30.
So while it may still come across as a "nice" name, many will have the impression that the child was named in 1987 (one of the years it was the number one girl name). For example, just seeing Jessica in your SN, I'd assume you were no older than your 30s, since the popularity of the name declines sharply in the decades preceding (falling out of the top 1000 completely for much of the 1920s and 30s). Forgive me if you're really 68 or something -- it's not a judgment, merely an observation -- but assuming you ARE in your 20s or 30s, you are quite literally dated to the decade of your birth (as am I ... I'm not criticizing here LOL). So yes, it definitely seems dated.
The Eleonor spelling you mentioned hasn't been in the top 1000 for the last 100 years, but Eleanor's most popular year was back in 1920, when it was 25 (not even top ten), and has been in the top 500 for most of the last 100 years, so it doesn't have a dated feel in the least. It's a familiar name that has been used consistently, but not over-used, so most won't associate it with a particular time frame. Someone named Eleanor could just as easily be three, 30 or 83. Being a classic, old-fashioned name isn't the same as being dated. Just thought it might help to differentiate, since there seemed to be some confusion.

I see what you mean. I guess when I heard "dated" it sounded more like old fashioned to me. That's what I thought was weird. But the name came from my Great Grandmother who is 86 and I am 29. So I see where you were going with this. It's like the name Britney automatically reminds me of the 80's because that's when it was really popular. Jessica was huge in the 70's. When I hear Ava or Ashley, I automatically think of younger girl. Especially Ava since it has been really high on the popularity list just the last few years.
Gotcha! :-)
Still glad they are deciding to consider it. I think it would be a nice name to revive.
Jessica
Exactly. ;)
