Well, I'm a woman and it's my username ;) but I know two, a Daylan and a Daelan both are boys.

I voted yes, but if you changed the spelling I think it would help. The pp mentioned Daelan and that looks more masculine than the "lin" at the end.

I'm not going to vote, because I don't know why people think kids do or don't get teased because of their name

but Daelin doesn't sound good for a boy at all. it's very very girlish sounding

I happen to love the name Daelin. The spelling is not a factor when you are talking about teasing. My name is Carrie and I got teased. Carrie will you carry this!! ha ha!
I think Daelin would give the other kids a bit of a challenge. Naming your child is so very important so go with your heart. Calen is a popular name these days and it is not far from Daelin. Good Luck with whatever you choose.

We have friends who named their son Galen. He was teased unmercifully about his name. In 3rd grade he couldn't take the teasing anymore and decided to use his MN, Paul. So yes, I do think that kids get teased because of their names.

I could cry when I hear that people really name their kids Galen, Calen and, I'm sorry, Daelin. I appreciate wanting a unique name, but these just sound plain uneducated.

I don't think people would make fun of a Daelin because it's a "girly" name, I think they'd make fun of it because it's a goofy name.

If you're worried about him getting made fun of because of his name specifically, then name him Steven or Michael or David and leave it alone.

Yes, if he's the only person anyone's ever met named Daelin, they will call attention to it. Such is the peril of insisting on "unique" names, especially for boys. Even if no one teases him outright, they will comment on it. Same way they would if his name were Woodley or Merchant or Bottlerocket. It's a weird name, and people notice weird names.

If you're the kind of person who doesn't mind the idea of giving your kid a weird names or the kind of person who purposely goes for unique names, then get used to the idea of people snickering a bit when you spell it for them at the grocery store.

With this name, he'll probably just go by Dale. Might as well name him that.

The "lin" on the end reminds me of "lynn," which is a girls name. It just seems to have a feminine ending. Something similar to giving a boy a name that ends with an "a."
