Hi everyone.. I wanted to get your opinion..
My Grandmothers name is Lily, she is the most wonderful person on earth and I would LOVE to name my daughter after her, mostly because of honor, but I also LOVE the name...
The problem is DH's grandmothers name was Rose, and he always wanted to use her name as a mn when he had a daughter (I think he promised his dad)...... But I dont know if Lily Rose is to corny or not since they are both flowers..... She really would only be called Lily but her birth certificate would be with rose as a mn.... The only other thing I can think of is having her "formal name" be Lilianna and just call her Lily for short...... Its the only form of lily, I like..
Can you give me your opinion. Thanks everyone.

Well......
Honestly, I'm not crazy about it. I do think it's a little corny to have two flower names together. Sorry!
Are you planning on having more children? If I were in your shoes, I would either:
A) Use the mn Rose for this baby, since DH promised his dad and his grandmother is deceased (right? I'm guessing he might have promised his dad when she died? If so, I would want to respect that and keep that promise), saving Lily as a potential fn or mn for a future daughter. While I think the names are over the top when used together on the same child, I think it would super cute for little sisters to each have a floral name.
or
B) I would alter BOTH names so that the floral association isn't as strong. When I look at Lilianna Rose, I still immediately think Lily Rose. But when both are changed (for example, Lillian Rosalie, Lilianna Rosalyn, Lillian Rosanna), it doesn't leap out at me quite as much.
This isn't what you wanted to hear, I know. Sorry! Just my honest opinion.
I think it's fine.
Or you could do Lily Roseanne or Lily Rosemarie or something like that?
Lilianna nn Lily is great though.
Karen
I think Lily Rose is a little too flowery.
Lillian Rose
Liliana Rose
Lily Rosamund
What a nice gesture to honor both grandmothers!
I love the sentiment behind it and I love both names separately, but, honestly,
IMO I would go with Lilianna Rose because it's very pretty. That way you have several options. Lily Rose is cute too but a little "cutesie". Good luck!
