Does Aveline sound ...

  • Quaint, classic and old-fashioned?
  • Pretty and feminine?
  • Trendy and made-up?
  • Weird and ugly?
  • Thanks! And Merry Christmas! :)

I should have specified, since not everyone pronounces things the same, that we will be using the pronunciation Av-uh-line ... just like Adeline or Madeline (short a sound as in apple at the beginning, ending sounding like the word line). Thanks!

Well, classic and feminine seem to be the clear winners so far, but I'm surprised by how many think it's trendy, made-up or ugly, especially with the popularity of old-fashioned names like Adeline and Madeline (only a letter or two off Aveline lol), Mary, Helen, Ann/Anne/Annie, Abigail, etc. It is a very old name ... I swear I didn't make it up! rofl

Anyway, didn't expect that, so it kind of surprised me. Keep the votes coming! ;)

I think it's pretty and feminine, and if you like it you should use it. But it does make me think of a cross between Avon and Maybelline or maybe vaseline. I know it is pronounced differently, but reading it I want to say Ay-vu-leen
