I picked Eleanor because I think it is just a classic/classy sounding name. This has been our top girls name for the past few months...until just recently when my husband decided he might want to pick something else. I think he thinks it is a little too old fashioned sounding. Since we know we are having a girl, we are not telling family and friends what the name is going to be so I haven't had anybody to bounce ideas off of. What kind of feedback have your heard (good or bad) from friends regarding the name? My husband is leaning more toward Ruby or Tessa - which I also love, but think that Eleanor is still my top choice. We were going to go with the MN Rose. Other nicknames I have heard for Eleanor which I thought were cute are Ella (although the name by itself is everywhere) and Nelly. We were undecided between calling her Nora or Ella.

I prefer Nora. Nora Frances flows well but I personally had a mean aunt Frances, so you know how that goes... If it were me, I would choose Nora Elizabeth. Eleanor is definately classic but it does not seem like an appropriate name for a little girl. That's just my opinion. However, if you like nn, Eleanor could be ellie as a little girl. I vote for Nora, though. I would put it on my list if my MIL was not DORA. Too close.

My grandmother's name is Nora... well, actually Goldie Elanora, but she hates Goldie. My mom's middle name is Lanora. I like Elanora Grace (nn Nora), and Lanora Grace. (also nickname Nora).
