How would you spell "Elena" pronounced uh-la-nu (with long a).....
Alaina
Elaina
???

I have a dd Kailyn, so kinda like the ai version but always picture Elena when thinking of it. But don't think that looks as pretty on paper when I write it. DH wants Elena.
What do you think?

I think Elena is by far the prettiest. My second choice would be Elaina -- I tend to like the "E" spellings better than the "A" ones.

Elena is my favorite but I can see why the "ai" spelling would be nice with your DD's name.

I would spell it "Elena" b/c I am both somewhat traditional and also quite familiar with the pronuncation of names from Romance languages. However, given the name of your other daughter, I agree with you about going with the "Alaina" spelling. :D

I think you could get away w/ any speeling variation you've mentioned. If you like the "ai" I would go w/ Alaina.

I really love Elena. It's beautiful and classic. My 2nd choice is Alaina. I'm not a fan of the Elaina spelling.

I think we have decided on Alaina. I don't want any mispronunciations. I am Jena (pronounced Jenna) and always had Gina growing up. My 3rd DD is Kailyn and if I had only known the problem with kaitlyn I would not have chosen that name, even though I think it is so pretty. Her own grandpa called her Kaitlyn just 2 months ago and she is 16 motnhs old!!! SO Alaina is pretty clear to me, just will have to spell for people, but no biggy!
Thanks for the input!

If youre wanting uh-la-nuh

I would spell it Alana

I know an Alaina- uh-lay-nuh

I know an Alena- uh-lee-nuh

And Elaina have alwaya been ee-lay-nuh

Alana is a great way to make sure everyone knows how to pronounce it...
