Even with the associations I personally make with it, I still think Emery is a really cute name (I just wouldn't use it myself). I definitely think you should still use it, though, if you both love it! It flows well with Quade, too. Your MIL will get used to it. ;-)

So, you've seen the numbers. You'll go into knowing you're likely to meet a few little Emery girls over the years. Big deal. That can be said of almost ANY name at this point.

It's important that you like the sound of it, that your husband and kids like it, and that Emery, no matter how many girls wear it, will always qualify as a masculine name.

If I might get my .02 worth in, I prefer Emory. The meaning of the name (Emory or Emery) is also great- "industrious leader."

Best wishes,
Ginger

i have been reading up on the name and Amory is more used for girls. Hey maybe we will just pick the name Emery for either boy or girl. That's actually what we had did for our daughter Reese Abbie. We loved the name Reese and Abbie is a family name. Ya never know what 12 weeks will bring haha....Joni

I like Rio for a girl, too! It reminds me of that Duran Duran song.

Hi Joni

I wanted to tell you the reason I voted dislike in your poll. It's not because I love traditional names myself, well, it's true that I love traditiional names but that's not the point.

I do like Emery for you. I think you should go for it since it has some special meaning for you and your family. However, I just could not stand Quade because it reminds me of Cade, Wade, Hade and these above trendy names with ade in it KWIM?

I hope it helps. I just wanted to share my POV with you.

So are you having a boy or is it just an idea for boy names?

Good luck

I LOVE this name! I didn't read all the pp, but if you get concerned about Emery being seen as too feminine, you could always spell it "Emory" to get a little more of a masculine feel.

I just remembered what else it was about this name that made me not think of it as a child's name! I knew it wasn't just the emery board thing, lol.

Emery is also the name of a band. They aren't a bad band, though!
