Please don't do this.

Please don't add one more rhyme to the Haylie/Bayley/Kaylie/Jaylie/etc craze. These names all blur together and Laylee (any spelling) looks totally made up. It's not a real name, it's just "Haylie with an L". These names are SO SO trendy right now and they are going to be so dated later. They are also terribly cutesy. Please choose a name that will serve your daughter well at any age.

If you like Laylee, why not make that a nickname? If you name her something with the "lay" sound in it, Laylie (whatever spelling) is a perfectly reasonable nickname. And that way, when the -aylie names fall out of style, she has a full name to fall back on. If she wants to go by Laylie forever, she CAN, but she doesn't have to. (A good example of this is the actress LeeLee Sobieski, whose real first name is Liliane.)

Here are a few full names that could be the source for the nicknae Laylie:

Elaine
Elena/Alaina/Elaina
Lane/Laine
Adalaide
Delainey
Laken/Laiken
Leila
Findlay/Finlay

Don't worry Annie! I wasn't going to use it haha. I should have specified that it wasn't for personal use. I just heard this name the other day, and was wondering how people spell it and how well liked (or disliked!) it was. I am with you on -ailey as well as all the -aydens...so DONE!

Thanks for the input! I agree it might be a good nn, but the woman I heard who had it was in her 20s...and I think she was spelling it like Lailei or something, I was just curious.

I couldn't vote, I strongly dislike the name. I MUCH prefer Lila or Layla, with nn Laylie.
