Are you sure you can't have twins? Because I cannot choose between these two. I love, love the sound of Elisabeth Audet, and I'm so jealous that you have Audet as a family name! But you know my love for Madeleine McCord, too. It's just too hard! Can you remind me of your other children's full names? Maybe that will help.

OK, then I'm voting for Madeleine McCord. Although I love Elisabeth, it's more common than Madeleine. Charlotte and Madeleine are both familiar and classic, but still not as common as Elisabeth. I'd vote for Madeleine Audet, except that then her intials would be MAP. Madeleine McCord is gorgeous and it goes beautifully with Charlotte Gray (also gorgeous, by the way). And I can't get Cake and Cookie out of my mind! :-)

Charlotte's on my personal list for a middle name...my dad's name is Charles. I'm thinking Eliza Charlotte or Laura Charlotte.

I like both Eliza and Laura but favor Laura, I think, because I almost never hear it these days. It's a very soft name...very old fashioned and has been lost to all the Laurens, Laurels, Lauries, etc. Plus, I saw Eliza in a Pottery Barn Kids catalog and I often think that's sort of the kiss of death popularity-wise. Emma used to be all over that catalog.

Thanks for your help with the name...I go back and forth between Madeleine and Elisabeth. I like both a lot. I am leaning toward Madeleine now, as McCord was my dad's mn and he died just over a year ago. I'd really like to honor him. Audet is a name on my dh's side.

Thank goodness I have 6 more months to decide!

I've been favoring Laura as well, but given the Pottery Barn Kids thing, I think you just clinched it for me. That same thing happened with Jack and Lucy, too. Plus, Laura matches the first two names on my list a little better than Eliza (I'm going to have to have tons of girls, because I have three girl names that I just HAVE to use!).

Do you have the boy name settled?

I think we've got it down to two names: Henry Walter after both grandfathers' first names (both deceased) or John McCord. It's a hard decision, as one is definitely more personally meaningful but John McCord is a family name too and much more our naming style. I think we'll just have to wait until the little one arrives to know on that one.
