I know two girls named Halsey, so it sounds feminine to me.

I've never heard this name before IRL. I'm surprised that you know 2. I really like it, for a girl. It says it's a male name, though. It definitely sounds feminine to me. I'm definitely going to put this one on our list for our 2nd girl. ;)

I think of Admiral Halsey so it sounds masculine to me. I can see it as unisex (which I don't really object to) but not feminine.

Hello
We are really stumped for a name. I lost my Dad almost 2 years ago and we want to name this baby after him. His name was Harold but people called him Hal. The truth is I am not crazy about his name (he even said "don't name anyone after me" not wanting to burden us with having to use his name) Anyway I just looked at this name board for the first time and HALSEY was the first name I saw. Coincidental? perhaps. My question is how do you pronounce it? Does it rhyme with Palsy as in cerebral palsy?
Thanks for your help. It would mean the world to me to honor my Dad but I don't want to hate my kid's name. Thats sounds awful but its true.

I would pronounce Halsey 'hal-see' but apparently someone knows 2 people with this name and they pronounce it 'hall-zee'. I prefer the way I pronounce it, lol. If you did pronounce it 'hal-see' it has Hal right in the name. Not sure if you are looking for girls or boys names but here's some suggestions with Hal in it -

Girls

Halle
Thalia
Shalom
Chalsie
Haldis
Halia
Halona

Boys

Halden
Hale
Chale
Halian
Halton
Halen

Terra already gave you a bunch of suggestions. Just thought I'd mention that Hal can also be a nn for Henry, so you could also consider naming him Henry, nn Hal, in honor of your dad. ;)
