I really like the name Jacy for a girl. It sounds like Macy with a J. What do you think? My partner says it sounds too much like initials J.C and that the child might be called jackie sometimes which would annoy him. If you have any other suggestions for uniquely pretty names please let me know. Thanks!

I had a friend with that name except she spelled it Jacie. I personally like it. That's JMO

I have a friend who named her little girl Jaci. I like it also.

I'm with your husband on this one. I know a little girl named Jacie. And everyone pronounces her name like the initials. It really bothered me. I couldn't tell if Jacie's parents noticed or not. Likely they didn't notice because they like the name so much.

I like the name. I think you might run the risk of someone pronouncing it differently than you do, but listen: My dd is 2.5 yo and my mom still pronounces her name "Bale-ee" with a very strong emphasis on "Bale" Almost like you would say Pale.

I love that name, I almost named my daughter Jacinta with the nickname of Jaci. I did meet one Jaci that was pronounced Jackie, because her full name was Jaclyn. But, I think most people see Jaci/Jacy/Jacie as it sounds. I also went to school with a Jascie. I'm guessing her mom put the "s" in there to solve the whole Jackie dilemma.

I also like Laci and Kaci (Casey).

it sounds to me like your husband just doesn't like the name and is trying to discourage you from using it. maybe you should come up with a few other choices too.

I kind of like Jaci, spelled like that. I never really thought of the initial J.C. comparison before. I guess some people could see that as Jackie, I don't know.

would he go for Jocelyn, nickname Jocie - (pronounced Joss-ee)? Jocelyn's one of my favorite names and you don't hear it very much.

good luck

Hi!

I too like the Jacey. I just don't see it becoming J.C. or Jackie. However, I'm such a ridiculous name buff that I actually have a "Jacey" list. Here are the others that are in the same "vein" as Jacey in my opinion. Best wishes and hope this helps! Ginger

Dacey (alone or could be nn for Candace), Jolie, Nealy, Evie, Evvy, Neve (neeva, neeve or nevvy), Rainey, Chloe, Remy (rimmy), Ari, Ansley, Avery, Mori, Lissie, Dorie, Kenzie, Briony, Devony, Delaney

I agree with your dh on that it may be confused with initials. My dd has a friend named Jacy and I thought that same thing when I first heard it and thought J.C. was a boy. I don't think she would get called Jackie though.... I would spell it Jacey though, like Stacey. I thought Jaycee would be a nice spelling, then remembered that there are a group of horsemen in our state called the Scottsdale Jaycees. Not sure what that means....
