Honest opinion on Ruby?

My paternal grandmother's name was Ruby. She was truly one of the greatest women I have ever known. She died during my junior year in high school, so she never got to see me graduate from H.S. or college or see me get married. She obviously won't be here to meet this baby, and I can't think of a better way to memorialize a wonderful woman than to use her name (Ruby.) I absolutely love it, but I'm curious what other people's first reactions are. It's obviously a very OLD fashioned name. We are considering these middle names:

Ruby Lynne (both of our mother's middle names are Lynne)
Ruby Christine (DH's sister's middle name)

What do you all think?

A few years ago, I would have thought that Ruby was very old-fashioned. However, I now think that it fits in very well with all the "old" names that are making a comeback. There's a little girl character on some sitcom named Ruby and the bunny in the Max & Ruby books and TV show. DH's coworker's newest baby is also named Ruby (little sis to Isabelle and Jonah).

I think it's a great choice, especially since it has a family connection.

I ADORE Ruby! I LOVE it! It's sweet & classy. It's off-beat. Yes, it's *old*, but *old* names are in style a bit right now, so I don't think it will stand out in a horrible tease her about it way. I like Ruby Christine best, but I LOVE the sentimentality of Ruby Lynne. HOw using Lynne brings boths sides of the family together like the baby does!
