Madeline = 'mad-uh-line'

Madelyn = 'mad-uh-lyn'

IMO.

ITA with the pp. Here, Madelyn would be the spelling of Mad-uh-lyn. Madeline is pronounced just as it's spelled ... Mad-uh-line. ;)

Just wanted to say my friend had same question. So she named her girl Madeleine (French spelling) so it would be pronounced Mad a lyn instead of Mad a line. It works, but people sometimes misspell her name. But they never call her Mad a line!

Must be a regional thing ... I'd always heard Madeleine pronounced closer to Mad-uh-len (kind of in between the other two in question). No big deal one way or the other. Just thought it was interesting. ;)

If I saw Madeleine I'd pronounce it 'mad-uh-lean'.
