My goal was to nurse for the first year with boy my boys. My first son had teeth very early (16 weeks and they kept coming in after that!) so after lots of biting (some bleeding :( ) and him not wanting to nurse, HE quit me at 10 months, broke my heart! My second son was not interested by 9 months. He couldn't see what was going on, wanted to be constantly on the go instead of latched onto me, so I pumped for awhile and bottle fed him instead. Now that I am expecting baby boy #3, I am looking forward to nursing again. I am a huge nursing advocate, but not what you call a crazy nursing person---I find it the easiest and most perfect way to feed my kids. My best friend, on the other hand, can not see how its easy and she thinks its too much work. Where I see having to make bottles a pain, she sees having to nurse a baby a lot of work..........see how different we all are?!?!?

I'll be interested to see the results of this poll. Good idea!

I put 2 1/2 years BUT that's per child so, I've really breastfed between 4 - 5 years. I only take a bit of a break when pregnant. (toward the end)

I tried tandem nursing but it didn't work for me.

My older DD weaned at almost 15 months during my pregnancy. It was after a biting incident, so it was probably really a nursing strike, but after a few days, I couldn't get her to latch back on and decided it was for the best. I'm currently bf'ing my 13-month-old about 8 times a day, so I don't see an end in sight for us. My guess is that we'll make it to two years or more, but I'm taking it day by day.

I'm assuming this poll was per child, as someone else mentioned, so I said 2 years (that's how long my oldest daughter nursed). My nearly-year-old daughter is still nursing (and doesn't seem to plan to stop anytime soon lol), and I am also 5 months pregnant and planning on nursing this little girl as well. :)
