How would you pronounce Anabella? And other ?s.

  • Ah nah bella
  • Ann uh bella
  • Am I being unrealistic in thinking it will be pronounced Ah Nah Bella even if

  • corrected? Will it always be a battle for her?Comments and experiences welcome.
  • Yes
  • No
  • I really like the way it sounds as Ah Nah not Ann uh. Does it sound too foreign
  • or not pretty or feminine? Trying to avoid nickname -- will Anna/Ana become
  • an obvious nickname? Comments and experiences welcome.

Unless you move to Europe, it will be Ann a bella in most cases. My best friend who is German and living here for a while has a Hannah ( Hah - na) and everyone says Hannah (han - nah)even though they always use the european pronouniation.

I do not think it automaticaly be shorten to Ana. I do know an Annabel who is in her 30's who was never Anna. Always Annabel.

We named our daughter Alexis Breana (brie-ah-na)and everyone still calls her Alexis

Brie-anna, even her grandparents. I constantly correct everyone but still only a few people get it correct. I would still not discourage you from naming her Anabella I think it's a beautiful name.

I think Ann-uh-bella will be the common pronunciation and that most people will automatically call her Anna. Just my 2 cents!

When I see only 1 n I know it is ahna and not ANna. 2 of my kids have names that quite often I need to spell for people or tell them how to pronounce. And honestly it really is not that big of a deal. People will catch on! Use what you love!
