It reminds me of Anuska/Annuska or Mariska, so I voted for Ah-nesh-kah

I voted for "Ah-nesh-ka", but with my high school Russian, I'd probably add a bit of a 'ye' sound to the 'e' and the soft 'j' sound (usually transliterated as 'zh') for the 'z'. So more like "Ah-nyezh-ka". But that's just a guess...

Pretty name -- is it a diminutive of Anastasia?

This is one of my friends' middle name. She says it's Polish, and she pronounces it "ah-NEZH-ka," with the "zh" sound being equivalent to a soft French "J," as described by the previous poster.

It's a beautiful name!

Shoot, my original response/explanation didn't post last night!

Anyway, thank you! The "j" or "zh" sound is what I was trying to go for but couldn't think of how to type it phonetically. From what I've seen, Anezka is the Czech version of Agnes, which is my gram's name - I was almost named after her (for my mn) but then my parents changed their minds. I honestly wasn't sure how it was pronounced, and I can't find a baby name website that also includes pronunciations so I wanted to get public perception of it. In my mind I pronounce it either "Ah-nesh-kah" or "Ah-nezzzh(j)-kah." I accept it would be a lifetime of correcting people anyway. ;) (I'm not even pregnant so this is way premature.)

Thanks again!
