I agree ... I would pronounce it AH-ni-ka. (But I cast my vote for ANN-i-ka in the poll; out of the two, that's definitely the one I'd consider more "correct").

I am happy to see ANN-A-KA winning, that is how I would want it to be pronounced if I used it. I realize some people say it AH-NI-KA to which is cute. I DON'T like A-NEE-KA. I just wanted to make sure the majority of people wouldn't say it like that. Annika is on our short list, if this baby is a girl.

Actually, I'd pronounce it

AH-nih-kah

with the emphasis on the first syllable...

I had a friend in high school named Anneke, and she was Dutch by heritage. So I know exactly how to pronounce it. It is a beautiful name. It's sounds like AHNNA-kuh.

This name comes from my country and if you want to pronounce it Anaka, please spell it Annaka and not Annika, cause

I'm another who would pronounce it AHN-uh-ka. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if I was corrected to "ann-uh-ka" (though I definitely prefer the former -- besides the fact that it's correct, it just sounds prettier to me. Also, I latter pronounciation makes me think of Anakin Skywalker and I dislike that association.), but I'd be very surprised to hear someone pronounce it A-NEE-ka. I've definitely never heard that before and I don't like it at all.
