I would pronounce Cierra like Sierra, and Ciara like key-air-ah. I MUCH prefer Ciara...if you're interested, which you might not be. :-)

Definitely like Sierra. For Key-air-ah (or Key-ah-rah/Keera) I'd go with them correct Irish spelling of Ciara. (Or an Americanized spelling like Kiera/Kira -- but I prefer the Irish spelling.) I'm a fan of the second pronounciation, personally.

I know a few Sierra's spelled that way - Cierra

but to me I think that whole spelling should be avoided for that exact reason - it could go either way

if you want Sierra, spell it Sierra

if you want Kierra, spell it Kierra

good luck

My friend's DD is Cierra and she pronounces See-air-ah...however I have to tell you that one day we were out and about and saw it on a sign in Spanish on a door, we asked the clerk and she told us it means "shut" in Spanish. I know that kinda bothered my friend and now I can't help but think of that when I see her little girl.
I would go with the S spelling if you want the See-air -ah sound and I would go Ciara if you want the Key-ar-ah pronounciation.

I would spell it Ciara and pronounce it "keera." It's a lovely Irish name. I'm not so sure about Cierra, since I don't think it's a real name.

heres a link to pronunciation. Hope that helps.

I voted Kee-air-a, but I think it's one of those names that can go either way. And that might easily lead to confusion and to people endlessly mispronouncing a name.

I agree wtih the PPs... if you want the s sound go with Sierra... if you want the k sound go with Kiara.

If you like the sound of ki-ah-ra, you might also consider Chiara, which is an Italian word pronounced that way that means clear, light. I knew a girl with this name, so I think it's legit.
