Hubby dislikes my idea for unique name!

I'd really appreciate any point of views. My parents combined their middle names to make mine, which I think is wonderfully unique. So, I have combined mine and my husband's middle names (Leigh & Darrell) to make a really pretty name, I think so at least: Emaleigh Darrelle, pronounced Emily Da-rell, but my husband thinks it Darrelle sounds to masculine and like a cigerette brand. Please let me know any in put.

Thanx,

dea

Darrelle does sound masculine to me.

I have to agree. That name does have a very masculine sound. I don't think that the first name looks very good spelled that way, either. I like the suggestion of the last poster.

If you're going to name her Emily, at least spell it right!

It's a really neat idea to combine the names, but I think she will be spelling her name to everyone her whole life.

Good Luck!

I really like Emaleigh or Emmaleigh for a first name, nn could be Emma, Emmy, or Leigh. Darrelle is nms, but I think you could do Daelle or Dayelle maybe. It is hard to think of something similar that still sounds feminine. Also, could use Darlene, Dareen, Darina, Danielle, Danelle, or Daniela.

I think it's okay like you have it, but I like the Dayelle suggestion just a bit better.

I like the idea behind your naming here, but also think she will have a hard time with Emily spelled Emileigh. As for a mn, I agree it sounds a little masculine too, how about Emily Danelle...very similar, but much more feminine imo...

good luck!

I also thought Dara was more feminine but still honoring your DH. Darlee? But, then again what about Daryl Hannah?

I don't like that spelling of Emaleigh, sorry, and there are sooooooooo many Emily's around - you are aware it's been #1 for several years. Darelle, I don't know, I kind of agree with your husband. don't overtry to use your names. It's better to have a name you both really like that to worry with trying to combine two names that just don't combine well.

Ok, how about Kyleigh Dara.

cuter, more up to date than Emaleigh. Dara is more feminine, not such a reach as Darelle.

see what hubby thinks of this one.

other possible Leigh endings - Ashleigh, Kayleigh, Hayleigh (too many Hailey's around though, with several different spellings) Marleigh (have a friend whose son names his little girl that last week, but spelled Marle), Whitleigh (that's a bit of stretch, but I'm just trying to give you some ideas), Carleigh or Karleigh, Mayleigh, Joleigh (now, that's kinda cute), Shayleigh.

Dara would probably sound pretty good as a middle name with anything of the above style.

good luck.
